Beliefs
Our Membership Covenant
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we covenant with each other and with God to aspire to be a faithful expression of the Body of Christ in this world, welcoming all to participate in our life together and to join us in making this covenant. To this end, we:
Confess our brokenness and self-centeredness, and our need for God’s rescuing and transforming love, embodied in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, our Lord.
Commit to carry on Jesus’ ministry of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pledge to one another at First Mennonite Church: to give and receive counsel, to extend mutual care, and to share our talents, resources, and prayers as God enables us.
Embrace the value of an Anabaptist understanding of the gospel as articulated in Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective.
Core Values
In following Jesus, we seek to
Welcome all
Extend value and compassion to everyone
Pursue justice and peacemaking
Serve those in need
Discern together
Do no harm
Live humbly
Church Statements
These statements were written and approved through a variety of congregational study, involvement, and leadership. Agreeing fully with a statement is not a criteria for membership (only the Covenant functions in that way), but statements are descriptive of our mission and vision as the Body of Christ in the world.
