Worship
At the center of our life together is
the weekly worship service on Sunday mornings.
Planned by our Worship Commission, we seek to make worship a meaningful and spiritually transformative experience for every age, ability, race, ethnicity, gender, identity, and status. We desire to reflect the diversity of God and the Church, incorporating the participation of as many adults and children as we can.
Every week might be a little different,
but here are the elements you can depend on:
-
Prayers & Music from the heart of the congregation
Volunteers serve as worship leaders who select prayers and responsive readings to bring the congregation into God’s presence. Other volunteers serve as song leaders who select and lead the songs for the service, incorporating a variety of musicians. Music styles differ from Sunday to Sunday, depending on the choices of the song leader. We make frequent use of our new hymnal, Voices Together.
More unique to Mennonites, we also incorporate a “Sharing Time” after the sermon. Because we define the church as the congregation, and our goal is to build a community of love and mutual support, the “Sharing Time” is an opportunity for any attendee to briefly share a joy, sorrow, gratitude, or prayer request. -
A Biblical Sermon
Sermons are generally preached by the lead pastor, though the associate pastor and other members of the congregation also fill the pulpit, sharing their spiritual journeys and bringing us into a deeper relationship with God, the Bible, and its message for today.
Miss a sermon? We record weekly and share them here. -
Children Welcomed
We have a play area for children ages 3 and younger at the back of the sanctuary, and we welcome their wiggling and noisy presence! “Activity bags” full of quiet toys and art supplies are available for ages 3-8 for use in the pews.
During the service, older children are invited to participate in Children’s Time (within the service) or Junior Worship (outside the sanctuary) on alternating Sundays.
Children also assist in the worship service in a variety of leadership opportunities, and each service begins with a music video that incorporates our children.
